"I'm thrilled that Lily has accepted the position to become our new assistant coach," said Wayne, who will be entering her 10th season. "Lily's enthusiasm to learn, combined with her love for the game are what stood out the most during the interview process. She is eager and ready to help bring Davidson lacrosse to the next level."
During her time at Skidmore, Carpenter helped the Thoroughbreds to their third straight Liberty League Championship appearance this past season. "I'm so excited to get to started and am grateful for this opportunity," said Carpenter. "While I was on campus, Davidson instantly felt like home. I am looking forward to being apart of the Davidson Women's Lacrosse program and the overall Davidson community."
A native of Newburyport, Mass., Carpenter was a four-year goalkeeper on the women's lacrosse team at McDaniel College, making 61 career appearances. She earned 417 career saves, while collecting 78 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers in over 2,600 minutes played.
As a senior, Carpenter started all 18 games between the pipes and twice was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week. She finished the year leading the league with 198 saves, which ranked seventh in the nation.
